Gulya Alexander joined the Innovation Center in 2003 as a work study student seeking to gain experience. She became a full-time employee of the Innovation Center in the Fall of 2004 as the Operations Supervisor. Her role at the Innovation Center is to oversee facility and incubator operations and to provide a creative, stimulating, and supportive environment to enhance client support. Gulya supports the Center in a variety of ways: screening potential clients, business development, office expansion/leasing, planning for the Center's outreach services, training, and coordinating the Center's events. In addition she serves the Center as a Notary Public.
Gulya attended Ivy Tech State College where she graduated Cum Laude with an Associate's Degree in Office Administration. As a student, she participated in the Multicultural Association and served as a member of Phi Theta Kappa. Her exposure to other cultures and economies has given her a rich appreciation of the need for innovation and entrepreneurship in a global economy. She has obtained certificates in Supervision and Leadership through the professional development program at IPFW. Gulya plans to pursue a B.S. in Business at IPFW starting in the spring of 2007. She would like to pursue a Masters in Business Administration in the near future.
Born in Uzbekistan, Gulya only became exposed to the English language in 1999 and became a fluent speaker of English in less than three months. Gulya also speaks Russian, Uzbek, and Ukrainian. Gulya became a naturalized U.S. citizen in February of 2003.
