Fort Wayne, Ind. (October 27, 2010) — Indiana University – Purdue University Fort Wayne's (IPFW) Doermer School of Business announced today that it has named Scott Naltner the recipient of the school's 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award. The award is presented each year at the annual Founder's Day luncheon to an alumnus of the Doermer School of Business who has distinguished him or herself by the significance of their work, and by contributions to IPFW and the community.
"We are pleased that Scott Naltner has been recognized for his dedication to IPFW and our community," said Andi Udris, Alliance president. "Scott's professional history is a reflection of his commitment to the ongoing advancement and improvement of Allen County. His knowledge and experience are tremendous attributes to our organization and we congratulate him on this significant achievement."
Naltner is a 1986 graduate of IPFW and is currently the executive vice president for the Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance (Alliance), where he has been since its inception in 2000. He began his professional career at the Region III-A Economic Development District and Regional Planning Commission and then joined the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce. Naltner has been a member of the Indiana Economic Development Association (IEDA) since 1987 and served as its president in 2006. He is also a member of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) and has been on the executive committee board of the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center (NIIC) since 2000.
Naltner reflected on his decision to attend IPFW in a recent Alumni Association publication. “In retrospect, it was a very sound decision. My education at IPFW was pretty close to being perfect," said Naltner. "At the time, there were five economists teaching at IPFW. The education I received from those instructors helped make the transition to my professional career seamless. I wouldn’t change that for anything.”
The late Richard T. Doermer, after whom the business school is named, was honored at the luncheon for his long career as a local banker, overall business expertise, philanthropy and public service. A number of speakers, including IPFW Chancellor Michael Wartell and Otto Chang, dean of the Doermer School of Business offered remembrances of Mr. Doermer at the event.
