Fort Wayne, Ind. -- Karl R. LaPan has been named to the Board of Directors of Grabill Bank, announced Michael C. Marhenke, Chief Executive Officer and President. LaPan replaces John D. Auld, who currently serves as Director Emeritus.
LaPan is currently President and Chief Executive Officer of the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center, Inc. Prior to that, he led ID Ventures Group, served as President and CEO of NBS Imaging Systems, Inc. and held key management roles with NBS Technologies, Inc. Earlier in his career, he held a series of financial and management positions with the General Electric Company.
Active with many social and civic organizations, LaPan’s involvement is primarily with those that promote self-sufficiency, education and technology. He is the past Board Chair for the League of the Blind and Disabled, Inc. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Physicians Health Plan of Northern Indiana (PHP) and is a member of its Finance, Compensation and Physical Reimbursement Committees; TrustBearer Labs, an authentication solutions provider, and BioDuct, LLC, an innovative tissue engineering company.
Previously, LaPan co-chaired the Crane Naval Surface Warfare Integration Committee, and he was a Board Member of the Science Education Foundation, Inc. – Indianapolis, The Entrepreneurial Institute, Science Central, and a member of the Canterbury School Finance and Technology Committee.
The co-author of Creating Winning Business Plans with Steve Franks, LaPan has written guest columns for Fort Wayne Business Weekly and Business People. He has been an adjunct faculty member in the MBA program at IPFW and an Executive-in-Residence and Adjunct Faculty member in the MBA program at Taylor University. He serves on the Taylor MBA Business Advisory Board, Manchester College President’s Leadership Council, Richard T. Doermer School of Business and Management Sciences Business Advisory Council, and the Indiana University School of Medicine Advisory Council. He previously was a member of the University of St. Francis Keith Busse School of Business and Entrepreneurial Leadership Advisory Board and a member of the ITT Technical Institute Advisory Board.
LaPan received his undergraduate degree from Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, New Hampshire, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and his Masters of Science degree in Organization/Human Resources Development from The American University in Washington, D.C.
