Two ventures that were started by Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne students are the latest occupants at the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center.

Advantagen LLC was created by IPFW student Tim Gulley, and The Green ABC's was started by student April Langschied. After taking part in the Innovation Center's BizWhiz student entrepreneurship program, Gulley and Langschied graduated to the Student Venture Lab inside the Emerging Growth Center on the NIIC campus.

In a statement, the Innovation Center said companies in the Student Venture Lab receive accelerator grants, paid internships to work on their businesses and office space.

Through his company, Advantagen, Gulley is developing DynaKey, which allows individuals to start their cars remotely using their phones.

Langschied's company, The Green ABC's, is aimed at helping children learn about green living through the use of flash cards, coloring books, activity books and puzzles — all of which will be made with environmentally friendly materials.

“Many students enter the BizWiz program, but only the most diligent are selected for the Student Venture Lab," Steve Franks, Student Venture Lab program manager, said in the statement. "Both Tim and April have not only created ventures built upon solid customer needs, but they have made significant progress with both product development and business planning.  We are pleased to welcome them to the Student Venture Lab.”
