The International Center of Orthopaedic Research (ICOR) strives to position Fort Wayne as a hub and hotspot for orthopaedic company development and location. Its three main goals are:
- To create new companies and foster industry connections
- To enable existing companies to expand in or into orthopaedics or other vertical health care sectors.
- To attract new companies to the area and strengthen existing companies in the health care innovation and medical device value-chain (cardiovascular, neuroscience, orthopaedic, nutraceutical etc.)
The program was initially funded by grants from the City of Fort Wayne, the Fort Wayne Allen County Economic Development Alliance, and the Innovation Center. Recently, we have received notification that it has been selected to receive a $500,000 federal earmark for expansion of this program.
ICOR’s proactive business development provides access to early stage funding, access to a network of orthopaedic entrepreneurs, access to management talent, and identification of business opportunities through value chain exploration.
